Merlin Entertainments - Sensory Room
Merlin Entertainments invited DJC to work on this philanthropic initiative to create a new Sensory Room – a purpose-designed, calming Sensory room for the Darling Harbour entertainment precinct, owned by Merlin and housed in SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium.
DJC worked closely with the project team to create a steel framed room, which is DDA compliant, with an internal fitout by Creative Sensory Spaces. DJC coordinated all design, services, fitout and authority approvals within a short timeframe while working to a minimal budget.
Completed in December 2024, the Sensory Room is a “safe haven” for neurodiverse individuals offering a soundproof area in which to ‘decompress’ and escape from the hectic, loud, and chaotic space that can be the Aquarium.
Safe to say, this is a massive win for the attraction, making self-care and emotional balance accessible for both guests and the Merlin team.
